‘Chrome Dipped’ is the new single from CIVIC, who have started to drift towards a new sound, leaving behind the 70s Australian punk of their first releases. This one is guided by gritty, widescreen riffs and a gruff, moody atmosphere. Vocalist Jim McCullough’s voice is purposeful and effortlessly catchy above the subtle intensity of the distorted guitar chugs that lie below. Lyrically, they say the track “is about finding human emotion and a world that’s hurling towards complete reliance on the machine.” CIVIC have also announced the release of their new album, also called Chrome Dipped, which drops on May 30th, 2025, via Ato Records. -Dan Peeke
